Mutton soup, yum yum!

I always wanted to try making mutton soup ever since the one i had in Batu Pahat. On Wed i decided to give it a try, without having a proper recipe.

To be honest, i never tried making a soup, except those instant Campbell soup. The only things i tried cooking were Cheese baked rice, pasta, cake (once only =P), steak as well as normal dinner when mom's not around. Mom doesn't like me messing her kitchen up because i always made her to clean the kitchen every time =P

Well, at least the feedback was good. My dad who's very picky when it comes to food also drank two bowls, hehe (that's why i'm also picky when it comes to food, like father like son)

Ingredients:

  • 600g of mutton, preferred in cubes with bones
  • half a carrot, sliced
  • 1 potato, cutted in cubes
  • garlic, half would do, sliced
  • 1 big onion, sliced
  • 1 tomato, seeds removed and finely chopped
  • 3 slices of ginger
  • 2 table spoon of grounded black pepper
  • 2 table spoon of soy sauce
  • 1-2 table spoon of salt
  • 1 -2 table spoon of sugar
  • 1 table spoon of curry powder
  • 3 litre of water (depends)
  • 1 packet of mixed herbs for soup (if you wish)
Those were the ingredients i used yesterday. Well, at least it did work la =P

Instructions:

  1. Heat up a frying pan, then add some cooking oil.
  2. fry the mutton until it turns brownish black. Then, add in onions and garlic.
  3. Meantime, get ready a pot, add in water and boil it.
  4. When the onions & garlic turns brown, pour everything into the pot.
  5. Add in potato, tomato, carrot, ginger and the mix herbs packet. Let it boil around 10 minutes.
  6. Then, add in grounded pepper, soy sauce, salt, curry powder, and sugar. Turn down the heat to medium and leave it aside for 3 hours or until the meat is tender.
  7. For better effect, put a clay chinese spoon so that the meat will be softer faster (my mom taught me that.
  8. You can add in some turmeric powder. Its up to you =)
  9. Best served when its hot.

try it out =)
